JOHN PAULSON
A Jazz Journey
John Paulson started his musical journey in the Driftless Region of southern Minnesota playing in rock bands and participating in school music groups. He migrated west and got his BM and MM from the University of Utah where he studied jazz arranging with Henry Wolking, and later completed his DMA in music education from the University of Washington. After 35 years of full-time teaching, the educator, composer and saxophonist now has professor emeritus status at St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota. The John Paulson Big Band’s “Five Years On” was selected as one of the top 10 big band CDs of 2018 by Minneapolis jazz station KBEM-FM. He has also produced several other albums in big band, quartet and quintet settings. Momentous Records is proud to add John to its artist roster in 2021.
